The ICE Office of Policy and Planning (OPP) works with offices across ICE and DHS to identify, develop, and communicate agency policies and priorities dealing with immigration and customs policy and operations.  As a Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the daily work of the OPP.  These include, but are not limited to, assisting and supporting in the development of policy, strategic guidance and regulations; performing administrative operations and activities; and handling special projects, assignments and other duties as assigned.  The ICE OPP is a small, dynamic group where all work collaboratively in a team setting to achieve agency priorities.

As an ICE Policy Analyst,  you will provide expert advice and use your skills on high profile and sensitive issues related to ICE’s planning, processes and programs that support the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) mission.  The position plays an integral role in ensuring proper facilitation, reporting, and quality of information provided to ICE leadership on a broad scope of issues, including high-profile matters requiring special attention to detail. Among other duties, the position is also responsible for monitoring projects and assignments; providing guidance to and coordinating with DHS and ICE offices, as necessary, to complete tasks; ensuring compliance with requirements, and reviewing/revising material for accuracy, completeness, and quality.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

•             Developing, revising, coordinating, and advising on programs and policies within ICE, and DHS.  Developing background and briefing materials for presentation to senior leadership and developing new policies. 

•             Analyzing, developing, and critically reviewing technical and substantive documents from DHS, ICE, other DHS Components, and the interagency, that involve a range of policy issues, including immigration, intelligence, and law enforcement. 

•             Conducting special projects and providing assessments, evaluations and recommendations on new and proposed policy initiatives and ICE and DHS priorities.

Excellent writing and communication skills and a strong attention to detail are a must.  Additionally, applicants should have the ability to multi-task, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to use various software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.  Desired education level includes college, graduate school, or law school. No specific major required.
