Kathleen M. Howland Ph.D. is a board certified music therapist (MT-BC) and licensed speech language pathologist (CCC-SLP). For the past 35 years, she has worked with a variety of clinical populations using music to enhance speech, language, cognition and movement in habilitation and rehabilitation settings. Her doctoral studies in music and cognition have informed and supported her interest in bridging the communities of science and art in order to identify best practices. Dr. Howland filmed a TEDx talk in Spain entitled ‘How music can heal our brain and heart.’ She is a professor of Music Therapy at Berklee College of Music designing and teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses. She is currently designing a technology platform to reach brain injured patients at home with music-based interventions to improve speech and language functioning.
