Hillary Hartley is co-founder and deputy executive director at 18F, a digital services consultancy inside the General Services Administration. Hillary is building the community, communications, and creative sides of 18F, focusing on keeping its messaging, brand, and culture aligned. She came to the federal government as a Presidential Innovation Fellow in 2013, where she worked on the development of MyUSA.gov. Hillary has been working to make government more accessible and available online for nearly two decades, starting as a web designer for Arkansas.gov in 1997. As Director of Integrated Marketing for eGovernment provider NIC, she helped their 30-plus state government partners embrace new technology and concepts for a 21st century government. She speaks at events across the country, educating and evangelizing digital services and transformative best practices for government. Her latest co-creation is Yes and Yes Yes (YxYY) – a summertime "geek retreat" in Palm Springs. This annual event brings more than 400 thinkers, futurists, nerds, and creatives together for the ultimate experiment in planned serendipity. Hillary lives in Marin County, California, with her wife and two adorably ornery sons.
