Sandra Peltier grew up in Wikwemikong on Manitoulin Island. She is a mother of three and a grandmother of six. Sandra has taught in the elementary system for many years in various capacities, and is now teaching in her community as Wiikwemkoong Anishinaabemowin Kinoomaagewin Program lead (WAK). She sits on the Board of Directors for Anishinaabemowin Teg, Inc., a not-for-profit group dedicated to language preservation, maintenance, and survival. She has always believed that our First Nations' Languages are the foundation of who we are. She is committed to supporting others, especially second language teachers, in their efforts to revive their local languages in their schools and communities.
