Jerry Sodomlak has 32 years teaching in Manitoba, 5 years in northern Manitoba with Frontier School Division and 15 years as an Early Years school principal. Jerry retired in 2012 but continues to support quality learning environments for youth, and provide them every opportunity for success by becoming a school trustee in 2014. Jerry is a father, grandfather and community volunteer who strives to give back to his community and support it to create a better place for children. There is an African proverb that says it takes a whole village to raise a child. It's a philosophy Jerry firmly believes in, rooted in part from many years working in schools. To create student success, it takes the school, division, and community stakeholders including health, family services and justice, to be actively engaged and coordinated in their efforts to support children and their families. The work must begin in the early years, where the foundation for learning is laid. In 2016, Jerry joined The Learning Partnership team to support The Welcome to Kindergarten program in northern Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. This program complements his personal philosophies and passions for learning.
