Katherine Wetmur is a Managing Director in Technology at Morgan Stanley and Head of the Quality Assurance and Production Management (QAPM) division, which provides global services to the Institutional Securities and Support Services businesses of the Firm. Complementing these direct support activities, Katherine manages Plant Management/Engineering, Capacity Management, Grid Management, QA Environment Management, QA Tooling and Data Masking. In total, Katherine oversees 3,500 people globally. After receiving a B.S. from Rice University, Katherine began her career as an Engineer at Solvay Chemicals in 1989. In 2000, after spending a number of years building her career and working in Europe, Katherine moved into technology consulting—a lifestyle decision that afforded a greater level of work-life balance, more conducive to her family. Shortly after, in 2002, she started consulting at Morgan Stanley and subsequently joined as a Vice President in 2004. Her passion and ambition quickly accelerated her career. She was promoted to Executive Director in 2005, then to Managing Director in 2010 after garnering substantial support and recognition for her technical excellence and execution across Wall Street. Her inspiration and drive come from her family and having the opportunity to collaborate with driven, talented people. Her daughter, currently a college student, recently declared herself as a STEM major—a decision that delights Katherine. Within Morgan Stanley Katherine is an active member of the Steering Committee for Women in Technology and champions outreach across all campus and STEM programs. She is a passionate mentor and focuses much of her time on growing the next generation of talent within her organization. In her personal time, Katherine enjoys travelling, water sports and is an avid cyclist.
