About the Event

In the years since we've started discussing this topic at the Council, it has entered the mainstream. ISPs of all kinds are offering rudimentary starter kits to get customers engaged with another base on the "triple play" field. This gives us the opportunity to examine best practices and successes of these entry services - like security, HVAC, cameras, and smartgrid - and to look at the next wave of services that consumers are likely to put in their homes. Once the basic starter kits are in place, it becomes even easier for customers to add features to their smarthome. The starter kit usually provides the local wireless hub (Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, etc), the web services setup, and the initial sales hurdle. When the customer learns to use the initial features, they are more willing to expand the system.
