Teach For America Celebrates 10 Years Strong in Kansas City
Join us on January 10th to honor the truly Tenacious as Teach For America celebrates 10 years strong in Kansas City. In the last 10 years, we've welcomed 1000 tenacious leaders who have served over 150,000 pre-k through 12th grade students in low-income classrooms. Now it's time to rally together in celebration of the incredible impact we've had and lock arms for the future as we continue to fight for educational equity in Kansas City. Events will continue on January 11 and 12 for TFA-KC corps members, alumni and community members interested in participating in classroom observations and professional development.
Announcing Keynote Speaker: DeRay McKesson
We are excited to welcome 2007 TFA alum DeRay McKesson as the Keynote Speaker at our 10th Anniversary Celebration! DeRay is a powerful influencer in the realms of innovation, equity, social justice, and civil rights. He was named one of the World's Greatest Leaders by Fortune Magazine in 2015, hosts the podcast Pod Save the People, and is the author of the book On the Other Side of Freedom: The Case for Hope.
The event will also feature performances by Quixotic, Kansas City’s innovative performance art collective known for its aerialists, Kansas City Improv and The V.I.P. Movement (Violence I Prevent). Limited sponsorships and individual tickets are still available. The TFA KC Turns 10 event is being co-chaired by Dan and Kristen Fromm and Bill and Christy Gautreaux. Community leaders John and Marny Sherman and Rick Green will be honored, along with the tenacious Teach For America alumni and Kansas City community.
