CUTRIC is excited to host a special ZEB Committee on Tuesday, October 19 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. EST. The Committee will focus on workforce development and service delivery, and will include a 90 minute focus group we strongly encourage you to participate in.
Part 1: 1:00 - 2:20 p.m. EST
- Transit agency presentations
Transit agencies with experience operating battery electric buses will discuss:
1. Operations & maintenance
2. Skills & labour requirements
3. Current skills gaps
- Academic institution presentations
Academic institutions that currently run electric vehicle related training programs will discuss:
1. Current training programs
2. Training programs they aim to develop to support the increasing number of transit agencies running zero emission buses
Part 2: 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. EST
- Workforce development and service delivery focus group
The CUTRIC-run focus group aims to collect information on a variety of workforce related issues, including current skills gaps within transit agencies, program offering gaps, challenges and opportunities. The focus group is part of a mixed methods research strategy using a semi-structured triangulation technique involving open questions for collecting data that would supplement the literature and industry review reports and the stakeholder presentations.
The focus groups and the presentations will be used to inform CUTRIC’s ZEB Consulting Services™ project deliverables including, these include but are not limited to the London Transit Commission ZEB Rollout and Implementation Planning (2021), Burlington Transit preliminary rollout planning (2021-2022). The data and to aid CUTRIC’s business development needs including knowledge series reports and presentations.
Transit agency members who have experience operating zero emission buses, and academic members who have experience designing and administering workforce training programs are strongly encouraged to participate to provide key insights into the landscape.
The information you provide would be used by CUTRIC in an anonymized and collated format. The information would be primarily used in CUTRIC’s Zero Emission Bus Consulting department reports. Additionally, the information will be used to form part of a knowledge series report that all participants will receive. The information will also be shared at events such as CUTRIC’s ZEB committees and members’ meetings for the benefit of the wider Canadian community interested in ZEB workforce development and service delivery. CUTRIC would also utilize the anonymized and amalgamated information generated to update CUTRIC’s ZEB consulting project deliverables to ensure they reflect the best practices and most up-to-date information in the industry.
The focus group will be moderated by CUTRIC and involves a group of invited CUTRIC members. The focus group questions will be shared with participants closer to the Committee meeting date.
