Research Focus Group - FREE to any city staff.  Focus Group meets Wednesday, April 1, 2020 from 3-5 at the Sheraton.

Leadership Skills Session: This is part of the Public Employees Leadership Institute and benefits supvervisory staff and those aspiring to be supervisors.  This track takes a comprehensive look at leadership strategies and includes an overview of:

• Exploring the elements of leadership
• Defining excellence
• Organizational self-assessment
• Team development
• Right side ride along

Registrants who attend all presentations in the Leadership Skills session will be completing one of 15 courses that are part of the online APWA accredited Iowa Public Employees Leadership Institute.  Visit the Iowa Institute website at iowaltap.iastate.edu/leadershipinstitute

Completion of the Leadership session also helps those working towards credit in the Iowa Road Scholar program (iowaltap.iastate.edu/roads-scholar) and/or those working towards a Public Works Professional-Supervision certification (apwa.net/MYAPWA/MyApwa/Apwa_Public/Education_and_Events/Certifications/CPWP-S.aspx).

Operations Session: This session is geared toward those involved in the operations of Public Works.  Learn about a variety of topics that range from day-to-day operations to the unexpected storm events that challenge operations staff.  Session concludes with a round table discussion - learn how others handle their operations and share how your organization makes it happen!
