How will you keep attendees protected from COVID-19 and other illness?

    • Keeping the movement safe is our top priority as we return to in-person events. The best protection against COVID-19 is vaccination and masking. It is required that all Congress attendees (including volunteers, staff, et. al) must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster or if no booster must have bivalent vaccination and evidence of a Negative COVID-19 Test taken within 48 hours of arrival at the Congress. Masking is required indoors. While we are taking all of these precautions, there may be health risks associated with Congress attendance.

What is the best way to get there?

    • If you are flying, the closest airport is Washington National (DCA; 6 miles away). Baltimore Washington International/Thurgood Marshall (BWI; 33 miles away) airport is further away but also accessible to Washington, DC as is Dulles International Airport (IAD; 27 miles away). Airport shuttle: Not available
    • The best way to navigate Washington, D.C. is by Metro, walking, biking or ride share. Closest Metro Station: Dupont Circle. For more help using Metro, please visit https://www.wmata.com/.

Who should come to the Moral Poverty Action Congress?

    • A diverse delegation of 20 people from each state should attend the Congress. This delegation should include poor people and low wage workers, faith leaders, students, young people, advocates and activists. All tri-chairs should make every effort to attend.
    • Each state is encouraged to bring more but it will require additional fundraising.

    What about housing?

    • The Moral Poverty Action Congress will be held at the Washington Hilton Hotel. This site was chosen to ensure that we have an accessible location where all participants can learn, share, eat, fellowship together.
    • State Coordinating Committees will be asked to produce a rooming list for all coming with state delegations. For State Coordinating Committees, rooms will be double occupancy  (unless single occupancy is required for a medical or other condition). Check-in will be on Sunday, June 18, 2023 and check out will be Thursday, June 22, 2023. Extensions to these dates may not be available.
