THE CHALLENGE
Potential is equally distributed across lines of race and class, but in America today, opportunity is not. The circumstances children are born into often predict the opportunities they will have in life and the quality of education they will receive. When millions of children aren’t getting the education they need, it affects us all. Yet, Teach For America knows what children are capable of when given the opportunities they deserve and the support they need.
THE POTENTIAL
Teach For America finds, develops, and supports a diverse network of leaders dedicated to expanding access and opportunity for children. These leaders begin this work with a commitment of at least two years of teaching in an under-resourced urban or rural public school. Informed and inspired by their students, Teach For America alumni continue to advocate for children from classrooms, schools, and every sector and field that shapes the broader systems in which schools operate.
OUR GOAL
By 2030, twice as many students in our Rio Grande Valley Impact Districts will achieve college and career readiness and success, indicating that they are on a path to economic mobility and a future filled with possibility.
