Enterprise Data Strategy for Digital Insurance Success

Every insurance organization needs a guided approach to managing their data and information to obtain the maximum value for success in a challenging and data-intensive environment.   An effective Enterprise Data / Information Management (EDM / EIM) strategy provides the framework to deliver real information knowledge, build a robust data governance program, and provide measurable and lasting value for the variety of data and information assets that all insurers possess. 

Session Objectives: 

1. Understand the fundamental concepts of insurance enterprise data / information management
2. Identify the role of a cohesive data strategy to the successful use of data and information in an insurance organization in the age of big data analytics and the rapidly changing digital transformation environment 
3. Learn the steps to create, implement, and maintain a successful data strategy for the organization, based on industry practices
4. Realize the value, and demonstrate some benefits,  of successful data management based on a solid data strategy framework.

In addition, the seminar will conclude with a moderator-led round table discussion of pertinent topics.

A happy hour networking reception will follow and will provide you with a great opportunity to meet other data management professionals in our industry and continue great discussions with like-minded peers in a relaxed sitting. 

Target Audiences:

1. Insurance professionals in any role (business analyst, actuarial analyst, regulatory and compliance professionals, underwriter, claims analyst, data scientist, etc.)
2. Data management professionals in an insurance organization (insurer, reinsurer, managing general agent, etc.)
3. Insurance professionals wishing to add data governance to their knowledge domain
4. Insurance professionals pursuing either one of the following credentials:

• An AIDM or CIDM designation from the IDMA
• A CPCU designation form The Institutes (or current CPCUs who desire additional data management knowledge)
• An actuarial license from the CAS or SOA
• An INS, AIS, AIC, or ARM designation from The Institutes

Anne Marie Smith, Ph.D., Vice President of Education and Chief Methodologist with EWSolutions (ewsolutions.com) is a leading consultant and educator in Data and Information Management with broad experience across industries.  She is a certified data management professional (CDMP), and is a frequent speaker and an author on data management topics.   Anne Marie is a primary author of several sections of the DAMA-Data Management Body of Knowledge (DAMA-DMBOK©).  Anne Marie received the DAMA International Professional Achievement Award in 2015.

Anne Marie's consulting areas include: enterprise information management strategy and planning, enterprise information assessment and program development, data governance strategy and program development, data warehousing, business requirements gathering and analysis, master data management, data quality management, data architecture, and the development of data management focused analytics programs.  She has taught numerous workshops and courses in her areas of expertise.

Anne Marie holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Business Administration in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Risk Management from La Salle University; she earned a Ph.D. in MIS at Northcentral University.  She has earned an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and other industry certifications.
