How can I participate?
Plenary sessions held on the first day of the workshop will be open to the general public however registration through this website is required in advance. Participation in the working groups will be by invite only. We are soliciting input from the community through an open call for white papers.
What is the expected commitment for invited committee members?
Committee members are expected to commit approximately 40-60 hours. Topical area panel leads can expect slightly more.
How do I charge my time?
Those of us who are supported by U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fusion Energy Sciences (DOE-FES) funding are permitted to charge this activity to their current FES-funded activity. If anyone is asked to participate but has an issue funding their time, please contact Kramer Akli.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is part of a planning process for the establishment of an Inertial Fusion Energy program within the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fusion Energy Sciences.
What are the expected deliverables?
The workshop has three main goals:
The workshop will result in a report of interest to scientists, to program managers, and to policy makers. The report will be delivered to DOE FES within 120 days after conclusion of the workshop and available to the public more generally soon afterwards.
