Now in its eleventh year, the NACTO Designing Cities Conference brings together 1,000 officials, planners, and practitioners to advance the state of transportation in cities.
This will be our first spring conference! We are grateful to our host city, Denver, for paving the way (literally) in partnerships -- with plenty of examples in federal, state, regional, and private sector!
In gathering as a community, we want to revisit our commitments made in Fall 2022 in Boston and measure the progress we've made in the 9 months since.

Welcome to Denver
"This is a wonderful opportunity for other cities from around the world see how transportation is visioned and implemented in the Rocky Mountain west. Denver is a dynamic city with fun transportation destinations all across the city, including arts, museums, sporting venues, parks, cultural centers, food and spirits, and much more. We’re proud of our city and can’t wait to show it off."- David Nemovitz, Deputy City Engineer, DOTI
"Rooted in respect for the diversity of experiences in the Denver metro area, RTD is working tirelessly to enshrine equity in local public transportation through informed and inclusive decision-making, authentic community engagement, expanded language access and beyond. While this has not been easy work, it is necessary work to make lives better through connections and improve access to opportunities for all throughout the agency’s service district." - Debra Johnson, General Manager and CEO, RTD
"Denver has grown so significantly in the last 15 years with much of our multimodal growth taking place more recently in a very condensed timeframe. I am so excited to share how Denver achieved this shift – from policy (and politics) to operations and the lessons we learned and are still learning along the way." - Cindy Patton, Senior Director of Operations, DOTI
