About the Workshop

About the Ultrawide Bandgap Workshop

The Ultrawide Bandgap (UWBG) Workshop brings together leaders from industry, academia, federal agencies, and the broader R&D community to define the future of next-generation semiconductor technologies.

Hosted by Silicon Crossroads Microelectronics Commons (SCMC) in partnership with NC State University, the workshop moves beyond materials-focused discussions to examine how UWBG device and material performance translates into real-world applications, commercial viability, and mission impact.

Through expert-led sessions and industry-driven dialogue, participants will map performance to high-value application spaces, define critical adoption metrics, assess manufacturing readiness, and identify commercialization pathways aligned with national priorities.

01

Map UWBG material and device performance to high-value application spaces

02

Define the key metrics and performance thresholds required for market adoption

03

Assess technical and manufacturing readiness, including scaling challenges

04

Identify commercialization pathways aligned with industry needs and national priorities
