Commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and the 50th Anniversary of the Lod Airport Massacre
The Blue Card Foundation, a national organization dedicated to aiding victims of Nazi persecution, and The Consulate General of Israel in New York, will host a ceremony on Friday, November 11, 2022, to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and the 50th Anniversary of the Lod Airport Massacre in Israel that claimed the lives of 17 Christian Pilgrims from Puerto Rico.
The ceremony will be followed by tree planting in memory of the victims at the San Juan Holocaust Memorial Monument located on Constitution Avenue at 2:00PM.
In addition to paying tribute to the six million Jewish souls and other victims murdered by the Nazis, the San Juan Holocaust Memorial honors the 17 Puerto Rican Christian Pilgrims. They lost their lives at the 1972 Lod Airport massacre in Israel committed by Japanese Red Army terrorists working for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The Lod massacre killed a total of 26 people and injured 80 others.
The San Juan Holocaust Memorial was designed by New York artists Michael Berkowicz and Bonnie Srolovitz. In 2006, Puerto Rico enacted a law designating May 30th as Lod Massacre Remembrance Day.
To RSVP, kindly contact Milana Hazan at Milana@BlueCardFund.org by Friday, November 4, 2022.
Roundtrip transportation will be provided from Sonesta Hotel to the Memorial departing at 1:30PM and returning at approximately 3:30PM.
