ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ralph Serrano’s innate affinity for art was evident from childhood. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he was initially self-taught. His appreciation for art in various forms, including music and photography, pop art, and fine art were among his earliest inspirations and an integral part of his development that greatly influenced his versatility. His formal studies include Advanced Illustration and Visual Alchemy at the School of Visual Arts.
Ralph's talent, dedication, and work ethic led him to New York City where he would eventually paint portraits for R&B singers Brandi and Fantasia and others live at exclusive tributary events. He participated in countless group art exhibits, live painting, and related showcases around New York. As a body-painter, Ralph is the creator of "Tribal Beauties", a traveling show of human canvases exhibiting culturally exotic bodies of art in a vast array of styles. Ralph also mentored with the non-profit organization "Off the Wall Graffiti" and helped provide a safe and nurturing environment to youth interested in artistic expression with the purpose of helping to keep them out of trouble.
In 2014, Ralph Serrano was invited to the renowned Art Basel festival in Miami. While there, Ralph painted his large scale first murals, one in Wynwood and the other in Miami Beach. Since 2015, Ralph has gone on to paint murals for private and public exhibitions and has been commissioned across New York City, Latin America, and most extensively throughout the island of Puerto Rico to paint murals of both small and large scale. In 2017, Ralph launched his merchandising brand “Arte Ó Muerte,” featuring apparel with an array of graphic designs influenced in part by the art and culture of Puerto Rico and Ralph’s own digital artwork. In 2018 He exhibited at his first solo Gallery Show “Matices De Mujer”, featuring his digital artwork, at Galeria Cidreña (a gallery recognized by the Smithsonian) in his beloved Puerto Rico.
Ralph continues to find new ways to share his talent with the world by partnering with businesses and organizations that support the Arts and by putting out his own special brand of fine art, digital design, murals, and apparel. In 2020, his work in Arecibo, Puerto Rico was prominently featured on the TV show “The Fixers” and he also collaborated with Coconut Liqueur Brand “Flaco Coquito” featuring his artwork on their limited-edition Art Bottle collection. Ralph and his work have been featured in a number of mainstream media news outlets including Fox, CBS, “CBS This Morning with Anthony Mason” and the New York Post.
