Frequently Asked Questions
Who should attend? Do I need any previous knowledge?
Our masterclass is designed for professionals from all sectors and backgrounds (policy, planning, technology, design, city government, to name a few) who are interested in becoming an expert in the 15-minute city framework. The masterclass is invite-only so if you’re here, it’s because we recognize your expertise and would love your help in debating and interrogating best practices, implications, possibilities and challenges that are shaping the urban agenda and sharing examples from your own work.
What materials do I need to bring? Will class materials be provided? Can I share resources with my team?
Each session will be hosted on Zoom. You’ll need an internet connection and the Zoom App downloaded onto your device and a quiet space where you can easily speak and listen. We will also use programs such as Miro/Mural - you’ll have time to familiarize yourself with these but also feel free to do so in advance.
Class resources including articles, podcasts, links, and other documents relevant to and enhancing the discussions will be provided to you through our platform and correspondence with you.
The recordings are password protected and sharing them with anyone else outside of your corporation or household is a violation of copyright law.
Are there any tests/practices/homework/projects that will be required of me?
Don’t worry - not too much homework will be asked of you over the four week course. We have put together a comprehensive list of resources and course materials that will help you prior to and throughout the masterclass to dive into the topic of Proximity City. To be sure, all projects and assignments will take place during the class itself and he only thing that is required of you is to be an active participant throughout each chapter.
Do I have to attend all sessions? What if I can’t make a session?
Given the highly interactive nature of the masterclass, we require that all participants are prepared to attend all four chapters of the course.
What kind of networking opportunities are associated with the Masterclass?
As part of the masterclass, you will get to fully engage with speakers and fellow participants throughout the duration of the course. Participants will be able to join a City on a Mission: Proximity City Slack community where you can exchange ideas, post relevant links and your work, as well as share contact information and continue building relationships after the class. In addition to the networking you will experience throughout the interactive sessions, we will be hosting an hour-long virtual Happy Hour after the fourth chapter as well, open to any participants and speakers who are interested in connecting further.
How will it work? How can I make the most of my experience at the masterclass?
Each class will take place as a virtual Zoom meeting. We will host a mix of presentations, discussions, and other formats among participants and speakers. Each session will be recorded and shared with you afterward. To make the most of your masterclass experience, we suggest that you come prepared to interact, learn, and discuss! Given the virtual nature of the course, it’s important that participants are able to connect with audio and video for the duration of each chapter.
