About the Event
The Conn Selmer Institute Midwest 2025 is set to be a remarkable event, spanning three enriching days from June 8th to 10th. Hosted at the scenic Bethel University campus in Mishawaka, IN, the event will welcome a diverse group of attendees eager to explore the world of music education. From veteran music educators to administrators and aspiring college students, participants will have the opportunity to follow tailored tracks that cater to their specific interests and career goals. Leading the event will be an esteemed faculty, including Tim Lautzenheiser and other renowned Conn Selmer Educational Clinicians. Their expertise will form the foundation for engaging sessions, such as reading ensembles, personalized one-on-one consultations with faculty, and an unforgettable performance by Dallas Brass. The experience will extend beyond the Bethel University campus. On June 10th, attendees will venture off-campus to Mishawaka and Elkhart, IN, for an optional bonus day packed with exciting activities and opportunities to explore the local community. This day will allow participants to forge deeper connections with peers and mentors while expanding their musical knowledge. Earn Michigan Continuing Education Credit
Through a special partnership with the Michigan Music Educators Association, we are able to offer a special registration for Michigan directors and administrators to earn continuing education credits for your time spent at CSI Midwest! You will notice a slight difference in price for the Michigan registration options on our webpage. This $15 difference is the nominal fee sent directly to MMEA to cover the cost of administering the credits. CSI Midwest Performing Artists Dallas Brass
Founded in Dallas, TX in 1983 by Michael Levine, Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles. The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range and musical challenges. Dallas Brass repertoire includes classical masterpieces, Dixieland, swing, Broadway, Hollywood and patriotic music. In addition to their solo engagements, Dallas Brass appears with symphony orchestras nationwide. Symphonic credits include the Cincinnati Pops conducted by Erich Kunzel, New York Pops conducted by Skitch Henderson, and the Philly Pops conducted by Peter Nero. Dallas Brass has performed at Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and has toured overseas to Europe and the Far East. They have shared the stage with the late Bob Hope, have performed for Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush, have appeared on the CBS “Early Show”, and their music has been used numerous times on the television show, “The Young & The Restless”. The ensemble has released seven recordings: Debut, Dallas Brass II, A Merry Christmas with Brass, Windborne, Nutcracker, American Songbook and American Musical Journey. Dallas Brass has a strong dedication to working with young musicians. They have published two books of original small ensemble music for middle school and high students called Brass Grooves, and they have played a major role in helping launch Harmony Bridge — a community outreach program for student musicians. In addition, almost every public performance has a student component including a clinic and invitation for students to join them on stage for a selection on the Dallas Brass concert. Over 300,000 students have performed with Dallas Brass over the years.
